19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev secured his first trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in especial - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with former trainer his previous coach.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set win over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's initial trophy after the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at 21 various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my both daughters together, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, including in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's defensive play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted commentators to wonder if his ability to perform at the top level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult opponent, winning four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to push for a decider.

The opponent saved 4 early chances in a close deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner earned victory with a rally at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
